Our members come from this region. The Canterbury Branch of the Ulysses Club is based in Christchurch and covers the greater Canterbury area; North to Kaikoura, South to Ashburton, and inland to the Alps. The Branch was formed about 19 years ago, and has a current membership of around 200. It is open to anyone 40 years of age and over who has an interest in motorcycles and motorcycling, and holds a current motorcycle licence. Further information on joining the club can be found HERE. An application form to join the club is available from the Coordinator.

We meet on the third Wednesday of the month at the Cashmere Club (situated off either Hunter Terrace or Colombo Street South), at 7.30 pm. Come and have a meal and a chat from 6.00pm. All welcome.

Rides are held on most Sundays during the year, and are advertised in Saturday's Press Motorcycling column. In the warmer months we have mid-week dinner rides to destinations closer to the city. We also hold overnight rides to venues within a couple of hours ride from Christchurch. These rides are advertised in the monthly newsletter. Notices of upcoming events are also posted on the Threaded Discussion Group that's run by the National Committee and can be accessed through the National Web site.

The branch publishes a newsletter each month for a small (yearly) charge (that covers postage etc.). It can be either posted or emailed to members, or it can be downloaded from this site (see the News and Newsletters page).

Our major events for the year are the St John Ambulance Run (held on ANZAC day each year), and the Remembrance Run held on the first weekend in August in the Murchison/Maruia Falls area. A dedicated group of hardy souls attend the famous Brass Monkey Rally held in Central Otago at Queens Birthday each year. Some enthusiastic Ulyssians race motorcycles, mainly in CAMS classic racing events. Some race for fun; others take it very seriously.

"Growing Old Disgracefully
The responsibilities of being over 40!
"

The motto of Ulysses is 'Grow Old Disgracefully' and it is our (im)moral responsibility to see that we do this to the best of our ability.  That's what makes socialising with like minded 'Disgracefuls' so much fun as we all get stuck in taking the piss and receiving it too - in good humour. By the time you have got past 40 you have at least been there and done that a bit and have a few yarns to spin - some of them pretty dodgy stuff but that makes it all the better.

We need the freedom to do this without worrying too much about causing offence , so let's "Grow Old Disgracefully".

Branch Committee

Our branch committee consists of a Coordinator, Secretary, Treasurer and Committee members that are elected at our
